Homework for the moment is set by Year 2 as a whole and is in the form of the Media Learning Ladder found on the GLG.
Some children have decided to bring in work related to different topics that interests them. This is also great and shows that children are excited about certain topics. It's lovely that children in 2B are so enthusiastic about different subjects. I will gladly accept and mark this as well. This will mostly likely be linked to something we are doing in class. Some examples are fact files, weekend diaries, creative stories and so on...
I will start to update the blog with little tasks that I feel would be helpful, if you have time and can incorporate into your day then they will really benefit children when they are in class.
We are starting to think about measuring, 2B are already super at measuring length. We are going to start work on measuring weight and capacity. These can be made into fun practical activities in the home, for example, weighing ingredients to bake a cake, filling bottles/jugs during bath time, weighing different objects from around the home using the kitchen scales, measuring ml of squash/water etc or just simply giving the children fun questions 'would you weigh an elephant using grams or kilograms?'
length: mm cm m
weight: g kg
capacity: ml l
