Mad Science

Dear Parent/Carer

As a way of introducing our new area of Science to the children in an exciting and fun way, we have invited in real life ‘Scientists’ to our school.  The children will get the opportunity to witness the scientists perform exciting demonstrations and even get to assist in some experiments to learn about Forces (pushes and pulls).  Teachers and children will then try some of these out in their classroom.

We invite children to attend the show performance on Wednesday 8th May.  Please note that this is optional as there will be a small charge of 20 dirhams per child.  If you wish your child to attend, please sign and return the slip below along with 20 dirhams to your class teacher by Sunday 5th May.

If you have any further questions or queries, please contact me.

Chemical reaction!

Mr Twit's balloon pump broke and he asked whether we could find another way to blow-up the balloons. We mixed white vinegar and baking soda, which caused a chemical reaction. A lot of carbon dioxide was made and caused the balloon to blow-up. We were so surprised!

Welcome Back...

Welcome back, it's great to see you all again.

This week is very exciting as it's BOOK WEEK! 2B are going to be focusing on the wonderfully hilarious book by Roald Dahl, The Twits.

During book week we will have a read-a-thon competition, please see the letter inside the communication book.

We will be hosting a book swap. Children can bring in any book that they have finished reading and exchange it for another book. Please ask your child to bring a book in that they'd like to swap by Monday and they will receive a token, which they can use to swap for another book.

On Monday at 12pm we have library time and parents are welcome to join us for 30 minutes to spend time with 2B in the library and read the children a story.

On Wednesday there will be a fancy dress parade. Children should make a fancy dress outfit to look like a book character - lets see if someone in 2B can win!!!

We will keep you updated with any other book week information as it comes in...
